Amiel Tokayer, M.D.

Dr. Tokayer was born in Tokyo, Japan, where he lived for the first seven years of life while his father served as Chief Rabbi of the Far East. His family then relocated to New York where he spent most of his life. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and then completed his internal medicine training at Winthrop University Hospital. Upon completing his rheumatology fellowship at Winthrop University Hospital and Nassau University Medical Center in 2001, he moved to South Florida and entered private practice with Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates of Palm Beach. He currently practices at the Boynton Beach location.

Dr. Tokayer is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. He has been a member of the medical staff at JFK Medical Center since 2001. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, the Florida Society of Rheumatology, and the Florida Medical Association.

Dr. Tokayer is involved with instructing medical residents of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine on various rheumatologic topics. He is an affiliate assistant professor of the Charles G. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University and also offers his time as a preceptor to medical students.

Additionally, he volunteers his time and expertise in helping to staff the local Arthritis Foundation’s clinic for medically indigent arthritis patients and lecturing to the greater community on arthritis and related conditions.

Dr. Tokayer is married and has five children. He enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.

He prides himself on being a good listener and believes that compassion, and at times a sense of humor, can be valuable components of excellent patient care.
